Infatuation, lust, crushes
Whatever you choose to call them
They are the bane of my existence
Infatuations through out my life are nothing new
There was a chiropractor who, 15 years ago, was kind
Shameless flirts I met at 27
The fellas online, chatting while they’re drunk
Even still, handsome men plague my mind
From here to there
So many men
Their names and faces have now faded
Those lusty feelings that once burned strong
Have thankfully paled with time
“This too shall pass”, I tell myself
My feelings are not truly true
My heart is fickle and impulsive
Like a child without reigns
Without correction
The heart can’t always be listened to

Great & Am in the same boat.
Thanks for the sharing.
“Like a child without reigns and correction”, brilliant line. Mira x
The capacity to love is a good thing in spite of all the pain it brings us. Celebrate it, because without it we are not truly human. But I suspect you know this, and deep inside you prefer to be one who loves. Those who hate do not write poems, only propaganda on behalf of their impoverished souls.
