"You don't have to be perfect, to be perfect" a wise man once said
This is true acceptance of self
Less guilt, less shame
A life of beauty with less pain
Pain, inflicted by myself
Born of inadequacy, shame and guilt
Of this, I work to rid myself
Nevermind past "right" or "wrongs"
I am ME
Perfection within my flaws
A neverending work in progress

Hi, sassykat17, I’m now going to try to pass myself off as a ‘wise man’ (Okay, so I’m an old man. Shouldn’t that make me wise?) and offer this wholly gratuitous bit of advice: stand back from yourself and try to laugh at your follies, at the mistakes you’ve made, at the dumb things you will likely continue doing. Do this while also looking at the rest of the world; you’ll soon realize that you are not a bad sort, that you don’t have to kick your own behind. God knows, there are enough people ready to do the kicking, so there’s no need to add to the pain.
I found contentment with myself by accepting that I was an idiot, a real goofball. That’s how I started writing humour.
Cheers,
D.L.
Sound advice.
Thank you!
