I am a full time carer of (extremely) autistic children. I write for 3DSTribe.com (occasionally) and am a qualified librarian with a BA (Hons) in Information and Library Studies from Loughborough University. I taught English as a foreign language in Hungary for a few years before working in the library at the British Council in Budapest. I computerised the library at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA) in London before moving a Wolverhampton high school library into the girls toilets. The first was my decision, the second was not.

In my life thus far I've (accidentally) made a Hungarian Army Officer cry, served tea and biscuits to Prunella Scales, used the showers in Liverpool prison, made love to an Anglican Priest, saved 2 American prisoners of war (one of which probably was a spy), captained both a cricket and a football team for an Oxford Theological College and have run away from librarianship. Twice.

I write as I read, from many different genres but mainly fiction. I can take any comments you care to make; I once won a £10 southern style fried chicken voucher for a short story I wrote and no matter what you say, I'll always have that.

Here is the first paragraph of an old short story of mine (also included here in full) I invite you to write the next paragraph in the comments section below and I will add it.  Then the next person writes the next paragraph and so on until, hopefully, we have a completed collaboratively written story. Autism Killing Me

When asked by the myriad of “professionals” who pop in and out of our lives, mostly randomly and seemingly with little purpose, what our main concerns are with our severely non-verbal classic autistic 8 year old we invariably say: Making sure he doesn’t get himself killed or seriously harmed.  This story is about our second [...]

Trod may have earned the nick name “contract killer” but that was just a joke, right?  Like his catch phrase “If you wake up dead, you know who did it!”  After all, Trod is strictly a ‘by the book’ person.  He wouldn’t kill someone, or even deliberately harm a bird.  Would he?

Video Games Journalism

A collection of video games journalism that I have written for 3DSTribe (a part of the gamestribe group) and Made2Game.  This is the “other” sort of writing that I do.  If anyone feels inclined towards paying me for doing this sort of thing leave me a comment indicating so.

Frog Murderer

A drunken nights walk back from the beach is recalled when the “hero” spots something on the floor on his way to procure breakfast from the local village he is camping near.  What is it, how did it get there and how will looking at a display of envelopes help hide his shame?

Dead Mouse

Little Tammy doesn’t like the dead mouse she finds outside her house, and she likes it even less after she accidentally kicks it into her house.  This causes her mum to say “the bad words” and somehow Tibby, her cat, is getting blamed for it all.  Life (and death) can be confusing when you’re young.
